Being a mod author vs. being a gamer

TL;TR: I’ve gone from being an almost full-time mod creator to an almost full-time gamer. Now I want to create more mods but I still want to play games in a casual way. I’m asking for tips on how I can balance both better without exhausting myself.

2024 is slowly coming to an end. So far this year, I haven’t written any new articles on the site, only comments. I had published new mods on Nexus Mods, but these were only re-uploads of old mods or extended versions of these mods, which I mentioned in the comments to the respective old mod articles. All projects that revolve around completely new mods are on hold. The only exception was Abyss Demon, which I last worked on in July of this year. I had to pause it again due to too many all-nighters (the all-nighters usually happen when I really wanted to get a problem solved).

My focus on how I spend my free time has completely changed in the last few years. I’ve gone from being an almost full-time mod creator to an almost full-time gamer. I had simply missed playing games in a casual way. For example, I played Cyberpunk 2077, ArcaniA, Starfield and Two Worlds. But now I’ve got the urge to create more mods again. But I’m afraid of overdoing it with creating mods, i.e. making too many all-nighters again, which will bring me to the brink of burnout.

Do any of you have any tips on how I can fit creating mods and playing games into my schedule better without completely exhausting myself?

I make mods for various games and devote myself to topics like mental health and psychology.
